Junior Weeks
Ages 8-12, NO TEENS |
Teen Weeks
Ages 13-18 |
As of 2024, there are now 3 terms we use to refer to our Summer camp weeks:
Junior Week, Teen Week, and the newly added Young Junior Week.
These weeks are dedicated to each age group by design. This dictates how we operate the camp each week as to the games we play and how we handle the campers. As well as how the guest preacher of that week will focus his preaching.
Junior weeks are for ages from 8 to 12 years old. Typically these would be in school grades 3rd-6th. Since that is not always the case, we will determine eligibility by age first.
Teen weeks are for ages from 13 to 18 years old. These would usually be in grades 7th-12th. Again, this not being always the case, eligibility will be determined by age first.
The New Young Junior Week is for children that are ages 8 to 10. This new age week is designed for younger kids; to level the playing field. A good example is big ball volleyball in which younger (shorter) kids are unable to enjoy the game due to the older kids being the ones that get the chance to hit the ball. Typically during the game we have to get certain age groups out, which stops the game, and there are kids on the sidelines wanting to play. During the Young Junior Week, this will no longer be a problem for many of our activities.
We sill have our regular 8-12 years old weeks knowing larger families enjoy the fact that all their kids can come together for a week of camp. Our new Young Junior Week just adds an option!
We ask that parents help us with this Age Policy. When young people attend that are too old or too young for the current week, it can create disciplinary issues in the cabins, encourage bullying, and other issues. For example, older teen campers that try to come to junior weeks may feel they are in authority because they are so much older than the other campers. A junior coming to a teen week can cause problems in the cabin because of the difference in maturity level.
If you are still unsure of what age group your camper belongs to please call or email us to clear up any confusion.
